The Juanita Ravens JV girls’ soccer team visited Bellevue High School on Thursday night for our first home game of the season. And what a show it was.

The only words I told the girls before the game was ‘protect your home turf’.

Mission accomplished. Just looking at the statistics tells the whole story, so I won’t bore you with another long-winded recap 😉

Shots: 22 Bellevue/1 Juanita
Corner kicks: 9/1
Keeper saves: 2/10
Blocked shots (new stat): Bellevue 11

We had three players score TWO goals (Tara, Anna, Sophia) and two players with two assists (Kasia, Calla).

Needless to say, it was a dominating performance, and the game was virtually over in the first ten minutes as Kasia ran wild down the right flank and found Anna for two quick goals to start us off.

From there we moved the ball with precision and defended stoutly. Yes, of course there are take-aways we can work on but overall, it was a great effort.

I was able to move players around to try different positions while still maintaining our possession-based game and respecting our opponents. I think it was a good test as we prepare for 4A Skyline on Tuesday. The defending 4A champs always have a tough program so I am expecting a very tough match.

I’ve been working the girls pretty hard on their fitness and on top of a few injuries, I thought it was prudent to give the girls Friday off from training. I have been pleased with our first three games, but I think we’ll get a real feel for this team on Tuesday.
