Playing games with no homework due the next morning seemed to unlock a reservoir of energy in our team, as we sprinted to a 5-0 lead at halftime, added two more in the second, and closed the game out with great team defense to secure our third straight shutout and collect all three points. a We controlled possession from the opening kick-off against the Saints, moving the ball across our backline and into midfield with quick, confident passing. We created several chances before Hinana finally broke the deadlock in the 9th minute, picking up a square ball from Lily, dancing around two defenders before launching a perfect long-range shot with her right foot into the upper right corner. 1-0. In the 18th minute, Bekah sent in a perfect low diagonal pass to Halle who expertly cushioned the ball with her first touch, and powered the ball into the net with her second. 2-0 BHS. In the 23rd minute, Hinana recreated a mirror image of her first goal, this time hitting the upper left corner, with her left foot, from a similar 25-yard range. Beautiful. 3-0 Bellevue. Two minutes later and it was 4-0, as Bekah took a square ball from Lily at midfield and raced past 4 Saints defenders to finish from close range. In the 37th minute, freshman Mia Draper joined the points party, beating the Interlake left-back for pace and unselfishly cutting back a perfect cross to Maeva for a power finish from 4 yards. In the second half, Maeva got a similar goal, making a hard committed run towards goal to meet Lillian's excellent cross with a one-time goal in the 50th minute. In the 70th minute, Emily bagged a goal of her own, finishing smartly into the upper right corner after Hannah's initial shot was blocked in front of goal. a With the win, we have secured a spot in the Kingco Championship game on Tuesday, Nov 2nd as either the first or second-seeded team in the tournament. What still must be determined is which team will join us in the championship game, and the final seeding that will determine who gets to host. Due to our consistent Kingco play, we control our destiny in both outcomes. There are lots of permutations, but most importantly, with a victory next Tuesday against LW, we would officially win the league title and secure the top seed. Simple. a So after a weekend of relaxation and recovery, our collective focus will be on the return fixture with the Kangs. Our first game against them was competitive and played at full throttle by both teams, I expect an even more charged atmosphere on Tuesday. Comments are closed.
