10/21/2022 Bellevue vs Hazen (postponed)The recap is this: I've never reloaded "purpleair.com" so many times in life. Nor did I know that the website existed before what has become our annual forest fire season began a few years ago. So as I write this faux recap on late Thursday afternoon, we still have no visibility on when our postponed games will be rescheduled. Since our game on Thursday versus Hazen was an away game, the responsibility for rescheduling is with the Renton School District Athletic Director. Yes, we've reached out. Repeatedly. And now we wait. Watch team snap for the latest.
We do have some silver linings in this brown smokey thundercloud of a week: 1) We were able to play Interlake last Thursday. Getting that game completed on the first day of dodgy air quality, even if only 50 minutes of it, lessens our game congestion impact over the next week. 2) Our Kingco BYE date was today. That is lucky. All other Kingco games are canceled for today due to AQI, and those games will need to be rescheduled along with all of the games from Tuesday. So we don't have to reschedule as many games as the other teams in our conference. Almost every other team in Kingco will have back-to-back games at some point next week, but our BYE today is sparing us that fate. 3) We have already clinched the #1 seed in Kingco playoffs. Again, the rest of the league is competing for seeds #2-#5 to determine if and when they play, and nobody wants to be a #4 or #5 seed because they will need to play next Saturday, Oct 29th for their season survival. Next week is going to be wild. And we can be certain that our first Kingco playoff game will be on Tuesday, Nov 1st on our home turf. No matter what happens next week. So here's where I wipe the ash off of the crystal ball and try to predict what will happen: it seems likely that we'll need to play this weekend against Hazen. Probably Saturday. When planning anything, "likely" and "probably" aren't great, but it's all we've got. Apologies and thank you in advance if we have less than 24 hours notice on time, date and location for our Hazen game. Regardless, our BUFC clinic on Sunday, Oct 23rd (2:30-6pm for JV / varsity players) and our regularly scheduled games at Mercer Island on Tuesday, Oct 25th and Senior Night vs. Liberty at Bellevue Stadium on Thursday, Oct 27th are safe from smoke cancelations. It's supposed to rain every day for the next week and beyond Very nice of October to show up just before it's November. Good luck to our JV & JVC teams as they finish up their seasons next week. Please save the evening of Monday, Nov 21st for our soccer banquet. Bring on the rain. FTJ Comments are closed.
